I was privileged to be a Lilly Endowment Teacher Creativity Grant recipient in the summer of 2014. With the grant funds, I traveled to Pescadero, California and volunteered with an organization called Puente de la Costa Sur (Puente). This organization serves the mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional health of migrant farm workers and their families in addition to acting as a bridge/liaison between these families and the U.S. bureaucracy (government, schools, etc.).
