Project Citizen Showcase, Spring 2015, Noblesville High School
Project Citizen is an authentic, project-based learning experience for students that asks them to employ the skills and habits of mind of a participatory citizen. The aim is for students to identify a problem about which they are passionate, then craft a pubic policy solution (or program-based solutions for some) to solve said problem.
Throughout the process, students interact with members of the community, interest groups, government officials at the local, state, and national levels, lobbyists, and more. The hope is that by practicing these skills with the support of a teacher-facilitator, that students will feel empowered to utilize these skills in the future as they identify needs in their communities as adults.
